Mad Cooking Skills

I meant to take pictures because I was so damn proud of myself. But yeah, I forgot.

I made sweet potato souffle for the first time. Sweet potatoes, eggs, milk, butter, pecans, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and marshmallows made my Thanksgiving. (Since I slept way too late for the parade. Jeff and I played poker at friend's and then I decided I wanted to go to bar the night before)

I also made a turducken. I wasn't near as industrious as Linda.
I bought mine online fully assembled stuffed with crawfish etouffee. Four hours in the oven with a basting or two and it was quite the delicious bird(s). Moist too.

I simplified the biscuit predicament of mine never turning out the way I want by getting Jeff to go on a Popeyes run to get my favorite biscuits from there. Thanks, Popeyes, for being open on Thanksgiving.

And last night, I made ribs for the first time. My stepdad always made the ribs and they are really good and it irks me to no end when I can't cook something as good as someone else. (i.e. the procrastination in the souffle) Well, mine turned out pretty damn good.

Cooking success!!

  1. The souffle sounds so tempting to make. I love sweet potato casseroles but would a light and billowy souffle hit the spot? I am so tempted to make one. The only one I ever made was a a dinky vanilla souffle but you have to give me mad credit for beating the egg whites solely by hand. But alas....the souffle did rise but it tasted like a vanilla omelet. Blah. Anyhow, you should include how you cooked the ribs cause I have never cooked a rack before.

  2. Oh, ha. In the South, sweet potato souffle is sweet potato casserole. I did whip the potatoes pretty well though.

You have total mad credit, I've never attempted an actual souffle.

  3. Turducken is one of the oddest foods I've ever tried.

Also, did you redo your blog design recently? I usually read in Google Reader so it could have been ages ago that you did it. Whatever, it looks pretty :)

  4. I think turduckens vary a lot. It looks weird, but ours just tasted like bird.

Yeah, I think I changed it when I added my etsy button over there. So, thanks!

I wanna live at your place. You don't need a 51-year-old son, do you?

  6. Sorry, Mike. The only person Jeff and I can agree on who is allowed to move in has a name like Svetlana.
